About festival
Every year, Groove Brno introduces music fans to the world’s and the Czech Republic’s top funk, soul and jazz musicians. Since 2007, almost twenty Grammy Award winners and numerous nominees for this prestigious award have visited the autumn concert series. Held at Sono Centrum or Metro Music Bar, the concerts have brought thousands of music fans from all over the country, including international fans, to the second largest city.
Past editions have featured Grammy Award winners and international stars such as guitarist Victor Bailey, saxophonist Ernie Watts, one of the best jazz singers in the world today, Kurt Elling, drummer Brian Blade, Scott Colley, Fred Wesley, Antonio Sanchez and James Brown soloist Maceo Parker. Last year, the festival stage featured Cory Henry, Dirty Loops Malted Milk or the exceptional double bill of Cory Wong + Judith Hill & B-Side Band.
We already know the first names for this year’s 17th edition! The American band Fun Lovin’ Criminals will visit the Sono Music Club hall on 10 October and the French band Electro Deluxe Big Band will be accompanied by the brass section of the Brno band B-Side Band on 23 October. These unique musical experiences will be complemented by the Icelandic band Mezzoforte on 8 November.
